In 1994, Nikaido Art Museum was established as a Japanese painting gallery by the nationally known Japanese sake brewery Nikaido, creators of 'Oita Mugi Shochu Mikado' (shochu being a type of hard Japanese liquor).
You can see the works of some of those responsible for modern Japanese art, such as works of Taikan Yokoyama, Gyokudo Kawai and Shoen Uemura. Exhibitions limited to each of the four seasons are really something special to see.
