Hiji's one and only stone arch bridge was completed in September 1897. It is affectionately nicknamed Akamatsu no Megane-bashi, which means 'Akamatsu Spectacle Bridge'. The sight of the peaceful mountains juxtaposed with the arcs of the bridge as they are reflected in to the water bring about feelings of nostalgia for days gone by.
